About

Jason Alencar

DIRECTOR

Jason Alencar began his journey at Day Camp Sunshine in 2011 as an international staff member from Brazil. Over the years, he served as a counselor and  manager before becoming Assistant Director in 2020. In 2023, he stepped into the role of Director of Day Camp Sunshine and also became the Director of the Fellowship Conference and Retreat Center.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an Associate’s degree in Marketing from Pensacola Christian College in 2018. With a deep love for Christ and a passion for mentoring and discipleship, Jason is committed to creating a camp environment where faith, fun, and personal growth thrive.

Day Camp Sunshine holds a special place in Jason’s life beyond ministry—it’s where he met his wife, Tatum Alencar. The two were married on the camp grounds in 2021, and they now have a son who is sure to be a future camper.

Celeste Benson

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Celeste Benson has the unique privilege of being born and raised on the Fellowship Deaconry. Her parents met at camp while they were both working on staff. After their summer working at DCS, her mom worked in various roles on the property and her dad worked in the kitchen as the chef. Once they were married, they settled down on the Deaconry to raise the family. Celeste is the fourth of five children, but the only one who took on a full-time role at DCS. She went from camper, to CIT (Counselor-In-Training), to counselor, to manager, to registrar, and now the assistant director. She loves camp and is grateful not just for the opportunity to work here full-time, but to call this place her home.
