Day Camp Sunshine History

Day Camp Sunshine was established in 1938 as a ministry of Fellowship Deaconry Ministries. It was originally an overnight camp, serving children from across the northeast. The camp was staffed by sisters of the Fellowship Deaconry along with volunteer teens and college students from local churches. The focus was on offering children a safe and fun place in which to experience the love of Jesus, hear the gospel message, and make wonderful memories with their friends and the camp staff.

Over the years the facilities expanded as we added a pool, Sweet Shoppe, picnic pavilions, and indoor and outdoor recreational facilities.

In 1978 the camp transitioned to a Summer Day Camp and joined the Christian Camp and Conference Association. Today, the day camp serves elementary through teenage kids throughout the summer, with about 300 campers in attendance each week. Throughout the years, the day camp has remained grounded in our mission to bring the good news of hope in Jesus Christ to children in a safe and fun environment that builds lasting memories.
